Avengers star Jeremy Renner says he broke more than 30 bones in a snow plow accident on New Year’s Eve that left him hospitalized for more than two weeks.

Renner, who plays archer superhero Hawkeye in Marvel movies and TV Universe, posted a photo to Instagram with the caption:

“Morning workouts, resolutions all changed this particular new years …. Spawned from tragedy for my entire family, and quickly focused into uniting actionable love ❤️ I want to thank EVERYONE for their messages and thoughtfulness for my family and I …. Much love and appreciation to you all. These 30 plus broken bones will mend , grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens . Love and blessings to you all.”

Renner turned 52 years old in the hospital. He was injured by a snowplow while plowing a driveway near his home in Nevada, leaving “blunt force trauma to the chest and orthopedic injuries” He underwent two surgeries and was in intensive care.

On Monday night, the ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ star responded to a Twitter post from the series, writing:” Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home. “

Renner’s snowcat, an engine-powered machine used to clear snow, started to roll away while Renner was off the driver’s seat, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam previously said.

The accident happened after a New Year storm hit the US, killing dozens of people and dumping heavy snowfall across several states.

Renner used his own snow plow to rescue a family member who was driving his car but had got stuck in the snow near his house.

Renner successfully towed the car-free, but when he got out, the plow began to move while empty, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said at the time.

Renner was trying to get back into the driver’s seat to stop it moving when the “extremely large” piece of equipment ran him over, Mr. Balaam said.

Days later, Renner posted a photo of his heavily bruised face, saying he was “too messed up now to type”, but thanking supporters for their “kind words”.

‘Tough as nails’

A number of Hollywood figures, including several of Renner’s former Marvel co-stars, posted their good wishes after Renner’s latest health update.

Commenting on the actor’s Instagram post, Captain America star Chris Evans wrote: “Tough as nails. Love you buddy.”

Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt said he was sending “continued prayers your way brutha”, while WandaVision actor Paul Bettany added: “Love you mate. Sending you love and healing.”

Vanessa Hudgens, Heidi Klum, and Orlando Bloom also sent messages of support, as talk show host Jimmy Fallon told Renner there was “Lotsa love out there for you bud”.

Thor star Chris Hemsworth commented: “Speedy recovery buddy. Sending love your way!” while Taika Waititi, who has directed two Thor films, said simply: “My brother I love you.”

At least 60 people in eight states were killed in the new year snowstorm. A day after Renner’s accident, news emerged that rally driving champion Ken Block was killed when his snowmobile flipped at his ranch in Utah.
